Stringed puppets, SS referring to Standard Stringed Puppet
This is the standard stringed marionette type puppet with the painted wooden ball head, Normally 12" high strung on what is called the "Standard Control". This is a simple crossbar made of wood with a hook in the top to hang the puppet when not in use.
After 1955 the control uses colored buffers as an ingenious idea to help untangling.
This type was the mainstay of the company for many years.
Rupert the Bear was listed as a SS puppet even though he was a SL type due to being the same price as the SS range.
